On February 22, 2008, Mr. Shumate moderated a panel discussion about the state of technology in Tennessee’s courts.  The panel included the Clerks of the Davidson County Circuit and Chancery Courts, the Tennessee Appellate Courts, and the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee; the Trial Court Administrator for the 20^th Judicial District; and the Technology Director of the Tennessee Administrative Office of Courts.  Mr. Shumate and Keith Throckmorton, the Clerk of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee, also gave a presentation entitled, “Ethical Risks Created by Technology.”  Both events were part of the Tennessee Bar Association’s Law Tech 2008 seminar.
